Hello again 🙂
I try to add a child theme to my website. I alredy have customize my gwangi parent theme before (no child theme needed before it). But now, i need i child theme for other options.
So i have add the “gawangi-child” download my gwangi theme package.
I have charge it. But when i preview my child theme before to activate, i loose all my parent theme customisation (colors, writting style, logo,…). So i can’t active it and loose all my customisation. You can see the screen shot of my parent theme and preview of the child theme in attachement.Do you have a solution to copy the changes in appearance from the parent theme to the child theme?
Thank you !

Hi @corvin14,
Yes, this is standard behavior with WordPress, I’m afraid. If you have already made a lot of customization with your parent theme through the Customizer, I really encourage you to keep your parent the activated and to use a the Code Snippets plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/code-snippets/) to store your custom code. If you have never activated this plugin, please read the following post:

Hi Olivier,
Thank you for your reply. I will try with this plugin. And will see if I can do without the child theme, and continue to work on gwangi directly.
Otherwise, I also tried with this plugin: Child Theme Configurator, which seems to work and keep all the customizations already made on the parent theme to create a new child theme (if it interested other people). But for now i prefer to keep my parent theme activated and use a the Code Snippets plugin. So i will try with this plugin.
Thanks again 🙂July 11, 2020 at 04:58 #15112 -
