Hello,
I’m setting up a membership site. I’ve purchased Cera. I want the membership site on a subdomain and the membership sign-up through the primary domain. What is the best way to go about this?
I don’t want anything on the subdomain indexed or accessible by non-members.
These sites will obviously be on two different domains, so is there a way to link them?
How have other members gone about this?

Hi Ben,
Thank you for buying our theme. We hope it will meet all your expectations! 🙂
Unfortunately, we have no clue of how exactly you could achieve that. 🤔
Moreover, I’m afraid this is beyond our scope. Installation and configuration of your website, third-party plugins and server are not part of the support we provide for our theme. We think that you could use a Multisite. You’ll be able to use the same plugins and theme through all your websites. Be aware that you might require some custom development work. To go further, we invite you to ask for more help from your server hosting support because we believe that they’ll be better informed and more suited to help you to put a multisite in place. Here is an article that might catch your attention: Installation in WordPress Multisite
Then, you might use My Private Website plugin to make one of your site entirely private. Simply install and activate this plugin, and then go to the plugin settings page (Settings > Private Site) in order to adjust options according to your needs.
If you need more help, this tutorial seems to explain every steps in great details: How to Make Your WordPress Blog Completely Private. If you need more advice on this matter, we suggest that you hire an independent consultant. If you’re on a tight budget, we recommend you to require the services from Envato Studio freelancers (https://studio.envato.com/explore/websites-programming). This web platform gives you access to developers who have already experience with theme customizations, and for very competitive prices.
We remain available for all support requests related with the use of your theme.

I get you!
What’s the best way to go about this on one domain. For example, I don’t want users, who haven’t registered to be able to access the membership site.
My thought was to put it on a subdomain, but I’d be keen to understand how you’ve had this set-up previously?

Thank you for your feedback Ben, I understand much better what you would like to achieve. Be aware that there is a more simple way to do this, and keeping all in one site, on the same domain.
Our theme is compatible with Paid Memberships Pro (paidmembershipspro.com), which allow you to charge users, implement recurring payments and restrict content or areas of your website that will only be displayed to premium members. Plenty of PMPro add-ons are available on the author website to go further if necessary, including one for BuddyPress restrictions: paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/buddypress-integration/
To know precisely which features will be restricted from your BuddyPress website, it’s best if you ask directly to the plugin authors.
They will be more informed and better suited to help you: paidmembershipspro.com/contact/
We remain available for all support requests related with the use of your theme.
