My members directory filter works fine if it finds one or more “qualifying” members. However, if no members pass the filter, instead of displaying the “sorry, no members were found” message, all the members are displayed (unfiltered). What could cause this erroneous behaviour?
I see that the your basic demo works correctly. Mine works correctly except in the case when no members pass the filter. For example, I have members who are either male or female (none are “other”). If I filter for “males” I get all the male members. If I filter for “females” I get all the female members. If I filter for “other” I get all members (male and female) instead of no members and the “sorry, no members were found” message.

Can you please make sure that you are using the latest version of the BP Profile Search plugin? If not, please update it to the latest version and see if it resolves the issue (latest version is 5.0 at the moment).
Also, please see attached screenshot showing the configuration of our demo form and make sure that your form is similar (especially the “Gender” filter, Form Settings and Form Template panels).
If that doesn’t solve the issue, I’m afraid you will have to contact BP Profile Search support as this is an issue with the plugin. They will be more informed and better suited to help you.
