Up::0Hi! Not sure where to put this so placing here. I want to use your Cera theme for multiple things: front end page, community and maybe even membership down the line. If i am asking people to pay for memberships does that mean I need to buy the expensive “Extended License” to use this feature? If so, I can’t afford that cost 🙁 so will need to rethink what theme I use. Please explain if that is the case, and/or what scenarios I have to use Extended. Thank you!
Christine

Hi @clb1229,
Sorry, I believe my colleague may have misunderstood your request. If I understand, your question is related to the purchase of an Extended license for your theme in the case of having a paid membership system in place ?
According to ThemeForest terms, the main difference is that under the Regular License, your end product (incorporating the purchased item) is distributed for free, whereas under the Extended License your end product may be sold or accessed by paying users.
Please read the following FAQ topics for more details:
https://themeforest.net/licenses/faq#main-differences-licenses-a
https://themeforest.net/licenses/faq#license-paying-users-a
https://themeforest.net/licenses/faq#faq-section-regular-and-extended-licensesSo Yes, if you will be charging your members on a regular basis to access your website, our understanding of Envato’s licensing is that it’s recommended in your case to choose the Extended License.
However, unfortunately, neither Envato nor us (Themosaurus) have dedicated resources to browse the Internet and look for buyers using our theme to create premium websites or paid services, and verify each time if the Extended License has been actually purchased.
At the end of the day, you will have the final say and choose the license that suit your project the best.
Additionally, please note that the Extended License is a global policy on Themeforest that every theme on the platform is subject to.
Best regards,

Just spoke with my partner that is working on this site with me, and we do want to trial membership features at some point. Do give some background we are a social enterprise company looking to help cancer patients. Do you know if there are discounts for extended for purposes of social enterprise? We are very nervous about us using and keeping this website if it becomes pricey for us to turn on features later if we want to test different ways of making money. Thanks for your help.

Hi @clb1229,
I understand your concern, and I recognize that the Extended License can indeed be pricey. I can’t say at the moment if we provide discounts for social enterprise. For your information please note that Themeforest doesn’t allow us to create a discount for a single person so if we decide to apply a discount for you, we will have to globally decrease the price. But I will discuss with the team and we’ll get back to you about this, probably at the beginning of next week.
In the meantime, there is no problem with using the Regular License during your testing until you feel your platform is ready to move to the next step, as you can always switch from a Regular License to an Extended one at any time. Thank you! Yes that would be great if you could find out. If we did use it, it would only be used for testing phase of understanding our patients better and how to server them. Not longterm in anyway. Kind regards, Christine
