I want my users (members) to be able to look up their membership level and, maybe, then subscribe to a higher level. How can users perform those functions? I can’t see any way that they can.

Sorry, as you might already know this is an issue related to the Paid Membership Pro plugin and I am unfortunately unable to help you as I do not know all the plugin functionalities.
