Hello, my notification about my 3 unreaded replys dont hide after I have clicked on it. I think that is because I dont uondersand what’s old and new things on the activitypage.. Can we make a own “new notification”-page with just the new refreshments on? OR, include a symbol around thous posts with unleaded replys? Because this is a little bit missleading right now.
Hope you can help us with this 🙂

Hi @norskrapno,
We’re very sorry for your trouble. ?
Could you the URL to your website with us please? You can post the user name and password in your next reply and mark it as private to keep this between us.
I would like to take a closer look and see if this issue is related with our theme or BuddyPress, in which case the plugin authors will be better informed to help you.
Thank you.

Hi @norskrapno,
First, we took the liberty to install and activate “User Switching” (https://wordpress.org/plugins/user-switching/) on your website. You can safely remove this plugin if you won’t use for your future tests while building your community website.
I see why you’ve been disturbed by this but sadly, what we’ve experienced seem to be the standard behavior for this feature. BuddyPress Notification Widget (https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-notifications-widget/) is displaying the notifications from BuddyPress to your sidebar and will do so as long as no action has been taken by your member.
In some cases, the notifications remain unread even if they have been clicked because no action has been taken on the own reading notification status. For instance, reading a blog post from another user after receiving its notification will not mark it as “read”. To clear them, it’s recommended to navigate to the notifications page and read them or apply a bulk action to them.
Please also note that clicking the close button on the notification widget will clear the notifications for your member.
It might seem disturbing as it is maybe different from what you might have experienced with other social networks. Unfortunately, this is the way BuddyPress works.
Unfortunately, to my knowledge there is no third party plugin to change this.
As this issue is related with BuddyPress, it’s best if you try to reach the plugin authors. They will be more informed and better suited to help you.
If you wish to give them further feedback on the matter, I invite you to post on their support forums:

Best,
