Hi
The ‘groups’ page is displaying the homepage header. Can you please help?
All the other pages are displaying correctly, the set header i.e. Customising<Appearance<Header<General<Current..
This started after I deleted Easy Custom Sidebars plugin which was causing a conflict.Apologies if this issue has been treated before now but I can’t find an answer anywhere.
Thanks

Hi @deebeeola,
Can you tell us what conflict you had with the Easy Custom Sidebars plugin? This plugin is necessary in this case.
Thanks to it, you will be able to build widgetized pages.

Hi @deebeeola,
Unfortunately, Easy Custom Sidebar is necessary to build widgetized pages. I really suggest you to re-install it on your website.
The Events Calendar 5.0+ came with a lot of new features and a brand new (optional) design that is not compatible at all with our themes (yet).
The plugin authors made a huge redesign of all their templates and a massive refactoring of their code base, which will certainly take all theme authors a long time to integrate it into every products. In the meantime, we simply advise you not to activate this option by unchecking the “Use updated calendar designs” box in the plugin settings (Events Settings > display tabs).
It should momentarily solve your issue. The support for those templates is currently under development.

Hi @themodactyl
Right, so I have applied your advice and I can see that the event page even appears better after unchecking the ‘use updated calendar designs’ box, thank you.
My main issue however remains. How do I remove the Hero (homepage) header from the Groups page? It is really frustration to see it there.
Thank you

Hi @deebeeola,
Sorry for the delay. We’re experiencing a much larger number of requests than usual so our wait times are longer than expected.
My best guess is that your issue might probably caused by some conflicting third party plugin or some extra code snippet as we don’t encounter this issue with our demos.
Could you deactivate all plugins that have not been installed with your theme during its setup and all existing custom PHP code snippets please? And then, could you confirm me that the issue is still persisting please?
Please also make sure that you have the latest theme version and that all recommended plugins are up-to-date. Finally, you could also consider clearing all activated caching system as well as your browser cache before investigating any further.
Thank you.

Hi @themodactyl
Thank you for your reply.
I have just done as you said. I already have the latest theme version. I cleared all the caching system including for my browser. I deactivated all plugins leaving only BuddyPress, Easy Custom Sidebars, Kirki and Grimlock. I can see that the groups page header image changed to a default page, i.e. consistent with other pages BUT it had the title ‘Home’ in the header. I believe this shouldn’t be the case, as it should read ‘Groups’.
I have tried multiple times to activate/deactivate different plugins incrementally. The issue disappears when I deactivate Grimlock for Elementor BUT this now affects the first header in the homepage.
This is very confusing, can you help please.
Thank you

Hi @deebeeola,
Please try the following :
– Reactivate Grimlock for Elementor to fix the first header in the homepage
– Go in Pages > All Pages, then find your “Groups” page and click on it.
– Once there, under “Page attributes” on the right side please make sure that the “Page template” option is set to “Full Width Template”If this still doesn’t work out, could you create a new website user for us please? If possible with administrator capabilities so we can make a quick check of your settings.
You can post the user name and password in your next reply and mark it as private to keep this between us.Thank you for your patience.
Best regards,

Hi @deebeeola,
After taking a look at your website, I have found the issue but unfortunately I have no clue about what is causing it. To explain my findings, for some reason it looks like any page on the “/groups” url behaves as if it was the home page or just redirects you to the actual home page. This is why the title was “Home” instead of “Groups” as you noticed when you disabled “Grimlock for Elementor”. To clarify, the “Grimlock for Elementor” plugin is responsible for showing the hero in certain conditions, so when you disable it the hero stops showing, but it doesn’t solve the issue because the “/groups” url is still being considered as a home page.
To demonstrate my point, that the “/groups” url is causing the whole problem, I have moved your Groups page to the “/all-groups” url. If you visit that url now you will see that everything is working as expected.
I unfortunately do not know what is causing this, as we have never encountered such an issue. I even checked your server’s .htaccess file and your wp-config.php file but didn’t find anything out of the ordinary.
I also noticed that you installed the “Better search and replace” plugin, so my only guess about this is that you might have migrated your website and maybe processed a wrong search and replace, causing some values in database to be “broken” or incorrect. This might not be the case but this is the only thing that comes to mind.
If you are ok with keeping your Groups page on the “/all-groups” url I believe you should be able to continue using your website. But if you really want to be able to use the “/groups” url, I believe you should try to reach out to the BuddyPress support, as they might be able to give you a better help about this since it is affecting the BuddyPress Groups page :
https://buddypress.org/support/Maybe you could also try to reach out to your hosting service and ask them if they know why the “/groups” url of your website redirects to the home url.
If you want to verify that it isn’t the Gwangi theme causing the issue, you can also try to enable the default Twenty Twenty theme and open your “/groups” url to see if you still get redirected to the home page, or if it still has the “Home” title.
Alternatively, if you don’t mind losing the work you have done so far, the more radical solution would be to restart from scratch, with a fresh WordPress install and redo the whole demo import. This would also be your only solution if there are “broken” values in your database after a migration as mentioned above.
Hope this information will help you in your research.

Thank you very much for looking into this matter.
I can confirm that the ‘Better search and replace’ plugin was only recently installed after the error had manifested and investigated severally, so it is not the root cause.
I am happy with your solution and have noted your recommendations, should we wish to reconsider the use of the groups page in future.
Happy for you to close this ticket please. Thank you once again.
Kind regards
