Hello,
Yet again a complex question…
Would it be possible to automatically send new users to pre-defined groups based on a checkbox choice that they would have to tick during registration?For instance, we could have a custom field:
Choose up to 3 groups:
[] Group 1
[] Group 2
[] Group 3
[] Group 4and this choice would dynamically place them in the chosen groups?
I’m guessing this is way too complex to do, but if you have any clue how that could be achieved, I’m more than interested!
Or just a simpler way to choose groups, instead of having to be invited or look for groups and ask to join, just a simple display and options to join/leave a group very fast… During registration and from their profile?Thanks a lot for your time!

Hey! I found a plugin that does this exact job: Buddypress Group-o-Matic. I was reluctant to try it because it hasn’t been updated in 7yrs but I’ve just set it up. I still have to try it with new users though, so I’ll update if it is indeed a good fix!
Update: it’s not working. I don’t know if I did something wrong or if the plugin is just too old and not supported.
If anyone has an idea for a workaround, I’m interested!In the meantime I’ve installed Invite anyone, which is great if you want your registrations to be invite only, and it has extended options to easily invite users in groups, all from the front-end! So it’s not what I was originally looking for but it’s already better than nothing 🙂
@pilgrimteam You’re very lucky. Invite Anyone is a ver recent addition to our theme. It’s only supported since last week! 🙂
