Hello
I’ve noticed that I can’t see the activity on the members profiles I go visit on the site (not even as admin).
This is not a normal setting, since people normally can view the content of each other (standard in BuddyPress). Is this a setting somewhere that I’m missing? – I do need to be able to see the content of other users on their profiles. 🙂
Thank you! 🙂

Hi Katrine,
My best guess is that this issue is caused by a conflicting third party plugin. Could you deactivate all plugins that have not been installed with your theme during its setup and all existing custom PHP code snippets please? And then, could you confirm me that the issue is still persisting, please?
Please also make sure that you have the latest theme version and that all recommended plugins are up-to-date. Finally, you could also consider clearing all activated caching system as well as your browser cache before investigating any further. If you want to read more on what browser cache is and how to clear it, here is an article that might help you: How to Clear Internet Cache in Every Major Browser.
Thank you.

Hi Katrine,
Can you please tell us where exactly did you saw this issue on our demo ? We checked, but all is working fine on our side. We think you might have visited a profile that has no activity recorded in his feed.
Anyway, we checked on your website and we were able to visit Activity feeds of another user and see his content by deactivating BuddyPress Anonymous Activity plugin. Can you please try on your side ?

That makes sense lol!.. Then I might have been unlucky and found a user with no content. 😀
That is a bit frustrating since I would love for them to see other people’s content..
Not sure if there is any CSS that can be used on direct links like /member/*user*/ and make it so that we could “hide” Anonymous content on user-pages. would solve the problem. My CSS skills are not that good to know if this is even possible lol xD

Found the culprint – it wasn’t even because of BuddyPress Anonymous plugin, but the rtMedia and it’s Privacy Settings. When the settings in there is set to “Only visible to logged in users” (even if members are logged in) there was an error within that plugin that just didn’t show it at all. So deactivated the privacy settings on the rtMedia and now it works. Might be good to know for future issues within the theme (if other run into the same issue). 🙂

The issue I’m having now is that I want to use the “set privacy” setting that comes with rtMedia – but when this is on in the settings (no matter what status it’s set at) it hides ALL the activity (no matter what it’s set up as) in user profiles.
So the rtMedia plugin I wouldn’t say is compatible with your theme. :/

Hi Katrine,
I’m glad to read you’ve been able to find from where this issue is coming from! Thank you for sharing the solution with us. I’m sure it will help other users that might face the same issue. By doing this, you’re making a great contribution to this forum, and we thank you very much for that! #SharingIsCaring 💪🏻
It is indeed related to the feature of these plugins, and I don’t think CSS code will be the solution. You might need some PHP snippet in order to make it works. Hope the authors of these plugins will be able to find a solution for you!

Hello!
Hopefully they’ll be able to fix it. rtMedia dosen’t care (from what I can tell by their previous comments on similar issues with third party) – but I’ve sent a request to the author of Anonymous to see if they can help fix this. 🙂
For now I’ve decided to just leave out the “Activity Privacy” settings since I value the Anonymous posting more at this time – and also the possibility to actually see other users pages and content. If they want to share with their friends or keep it private they can do so in messages, groups or elsewhere anyways. It’s a closed community, so might not even be that big of an issue since I don’t see the crazy need for this feature – nice to have for sure… but not need. 🙂
