Hello
I noticed that there is an issue with the notifications for the “Favorites”.. If a user has marked a post/activity as favorite and that is deleted – then it still shows up with a notification count on the menu – despite some of them is now missing. I tried to clear browser cache and everything – nothing works.
Is there a place where I can “clear buddypress cache” or how do I fix this?

Hi Katrine,
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention!
Can you please change your theme for a standard one like twenty-twenty-four to see if this issue still occurs, please ?
This feature is managed by BuddyPress plugin, but I’m not quite sure that this issue is related to BuddyPress. Seems to me like a cache issue. Did you refresh your site cache as well ? I think you’re using W3 Total Cache. Is it possible your host provide a cache feature at a server level ?

The issue is still the same despite what theme it’s on apparently.
I’ve cleared cache within W3 and I don’t believe that I’ve got any special cache on my server. So that would not be the issue. :/
It fine if people delete the favorite first – but if they’ve favorited a post and another user deletes it, then it’s an issue.

Found the “solution” – at least until next time..
I went into the MySQL database and deleted the rows from in thereSELECT * FROM
spiritualskill_com_db.
clkbf070e5d32_usermetaWHERE (CONVERT(
umeta_idUSING utf8) LIKE '%favorite%' OR CONVERT(
user_idUSING utf8) LIKE '%favorite%' OR CONVERT(
meta_keyUSING utf8) LIKE '%favorite%' OR CONVERT(
meta_valueUSING utf8) LIKE '%favorite%')
This solved it now – but I’m sujre it’ll be back again later.. will have to test further on this. 🙂

Just had to test it once – and as I already figured..
When people delete a post (that is already marked as favorite) it’s still going to show up in the “favorite”-section (the count – not the actual post).
So this is an issue – not sure if this is within BuddyPress themselves to fix or somewhere else..
I raised the concern within the BuddyPress Support Community too. 🙂

In this case, seems indeed to be related to BuddyPress core. Don’t hesitate to share the feedback from BuddyPress team with us. I’m sure it will help other users facing the same issue, but we’re quite curious to know more about this. By doing this, you’ll make a great contribution to this forum, and we thank you very much for that! #SharingIsCaring 💪🏻
