Cannot seem to change the color of the page up button as well as part of the shape that is still purple, the events module covers it up when I look to edit the page.

You can use the components button to select the Divider. Please find the attached screenshot.

Shikoro, you can indeed change that background color in Customize > Appearance > Back To Top Button. Please find the attached screenshot.

The @ symbol is related to the Activity Stream feature. To display or hide it, please activate or deactivate the activity stream in Dashboard > Settings > BuddyPress.
