Hi there,
Could you advise me what to do to adjust the clarity of the members’ profile pictures when they are displayed in a circle shape on some pages, please?
For example: https://prnt.sc/11vih8oI noticed that on editing mode, their clarity is better https://prnt.sc/11vgbor.
So, what could be the problem on my site?
Please advise. I really appreciate your support!
Thank you!

Hi Michael,
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. This is standard behavior with WordPress, I’m afraid.
Maybe these topics will help you to solve your issue as they seem to answer the same concern:

Hi Manathan,
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.
I’m afraid that what you advised me doesn’t work.
I read those articles and many more besides them, but no succes. I tried different methods through Custom Css, Code Snippets and others, as suggested by plugins authors or other experts, but nothing helped.I suppose that these blurry round pictures of the members are not just related to BP. They are blurred in multiple places. See these:
1. On the forums – https://prnt.sc/11xbnri
2. In BP Better Messages plugin – https://prnt.sc/11xbo55
3. On the Blog page (articles authors) – https://prnt.sc/11xbovq
4. On the page of a specific article, below the title – https://prnt.sc/11xbq0vAs you can see, they are not clear at all.
Not being a developer or an expert, I couldn’t figure out what the problem might be and I would really, really appreciate if you could take a few minutes to help me solve this issue.Thank you!

Unfortunately, we have no clue. 🤷🏻♀️
Are you using a plugin to reduce the weight of your images? Our best guess is that the quality of the image is not good enough or there is an issue during the compression at a server level. Can you deactivate this kind of plugin to see if this issue persists, please?
Please note that even if those images are visible on multiple places, they are manage by BuddyPress. To go further, we invite you to ask for more help from the plugin authors and post your request on their support forums:

Hi Manathan,
Thank you for your advice. It helped me!
Yes, you’re right! I use the Optimole plugin to optimize the images on the site. I use it on several of my sites and I am happy with it, but it seems that here it has greatly affected the clarity of members’ avatars when displayed in a circle shape.
I deactivated it for a moment and the images became clear.
I contacted the plugin authors and I am waiting for their support in this regard. 🙂Thanks again for your support. I really appreciate that!

Hi Manathan,
I received the answer from the Optimole author, in connection to blurring members’ avatars.
This is what they say:This happens because you have fixed width and height defined for those avatar images – https://vertis.d.pr/0IvPVI
Optimole respects those options and optimizes the image to that requested size –
https://mlxftc4vb5bs.i.optimole.com/LeHxhWc.xPLV~539a/w:52/h:52/q:80/https://membri.romaniidepretutindeni.com/wp-content/uploads/avatars/2/60777a066c1b5-bpthumb.jpgWhile your original images are not resized – https://membri.romaniidepretutindeni.com/wp-content/uploads/avatars/2/60777a066c1b5-bpthumb.jpg
Because you also use image to cover the element and modify the height that resized version of the image served by Optimole gets blurry.
I recommend removing those fixed width and height sizes from the img elements or increase their sizes.
Please advise me what I have to do in order to solve this issue.
Kind regards,

Hi Michael,
We’re very sorry to inform you that there are no easy fix for this issue.
Our code base has to juggle with pictures from multiple plugins and make sure they all look OK and similar, even if they are posted on your page in various manners or in various areas (profile, directory, widgets and more). Some will comply to optimization plugin requirements and other like avatars won’t, as we understand from your latest reply.
To be able to move forward with this, could check if you can exclude the avatar pictures from the optimization process? If no option exists to do so, could you ask the plugin author if he could provide some code snippet that could do this trick for you?
Thank you.

Hi Manathan,
I found the solution.
For all of you that are using the Optimole plugin, if you get blurred avatar images, then access:Settings -> Advanced -> Exclusion ->Don’t optimize images if -> select Images Class -> contains avatar
