Hi,
I’ve tried to import the demo content 3 times and each time it fails.
My host then doubled the timeout request, but it still failed.
How do I privately give you my admin details to see what is going wrong?

Hi @imyourcupid,
This issue might be caused by insufficient memory allocation or file permission misconfiguration for your server.
For better debugging purposes, maybe you can deactivate all plugins, activate a default WP theme (i.e. Twenty Seventeen) and then try to run the WP Importer with the following file:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/WPTRT/theme-unit-test/master/themeunittestdata.wordpress.xmlThis may confirm that the problem is related with your configuration and it will give you the necessary error logs to transfer to your server hosting support.
To activate logging on your website, just turn WP_DEBUG to true, like following:
define (‘WP_DEBUG’, TRUE);You will find this constant in your wp-config.php file.
More on this in the following topic: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPressFinally, you can check the WordPress prerequisites here: https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/.
For better performance (and better security) we obviously recommend the version 7.2 for PHP.Nevertheless, if this is not possible for you (server type, incompatibilities with plugins, etc.) we recommend at least version 5.6.X.
We hope this will help.
Regards

Hi imyourcupid,
We’re really sorry for trouble and we understand your frustration.
Without any logs, it’s very difficult for us to help you find from where the issue is coming from and more important, to find a resolution to this issue. But, it seems you’ve been able to import the Theme Unit Test data with a default theme, which is progress. ?
Can you please upload your latest version of Gwangi and activate all recommended plugins? We will log in your website to upload your demo content to see which error you’re experiencing. We’ll discuss together what to do then.
Regards

Hi imyourcupid,
We’ve run the import with demo content file and it failed, as expected. If you WP_DEBUG has been set up correctly, this should have created a log file on your server. You will find it in you
wp-content
directory. Can you please post a private reply in this topic containing the error shown in your log file ?
Thank you very much.
