Gwangi supports BP xProfile Location (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-xprofile-location/) to help you to create an xProfile Location field type that use the Google Places API to populate and validate the address fields.
This can also be integrated with BuddyPress Member Map (http://www.philopress.com/products/bp-maps-for-members/) from the same plugin author, to allow you do display members on a map.
But we’re not sure that these plugins will let you filter user by distance or geolocation. So, maybe Buddypress Members Directory Geolocation (https://geomywp.com/extensions/buddypress-members-directory-geolocation/) will be a better fit. It seems that it allows you to apply the sorting order that you’re looking for:
Add distance item to the “order by” dropdown select box of the Members Directory to order the list of memebrs by the distance.
However, Buddypress Members Directory Geolocation is not supported yet by Gwangi and might only partially work. For a proper integration, you might need some extra custom work. We recommend you to require the services from Envato Studio freelancers (https://studio.envato.com/explore/websites-programming). This web platform gives you access to developers who have already experience with theme customizations, and for very competitive prices.
