Is it (or will it be) possible to filter members with this widget using the learndash user roles (student / group leader) ?
Per default, i can select the group leader role but I don’t believe it comes from learndash (with use extended profile field) but from Buddypress.
My concern is, in its current state, I have admins which also are Learndash Group leaders and I don’t want to show other admins but only group leaders….

Unfortunately, this feature is not supported as Author Avatars List and LearnDash have been created by different plugin authors.
As this issue is related with the Author Avatars List, it’s best if you try to reach the plugin authors. They will be more informed and better suited to tell you how you can to hide admins from the user query built inside their shortcode.

A question though, the default Authors Avatar plugin have a standard option to hide particular users by adding the ID in a field. Could it be possible to add this function to GRIMLOCK AUTHOR AVATAR?

It would be indeed very nice to be able to exclude specific IDs from the user query used by our widget. We added your suggestion to our task list to implement this in the near future. However, it’s not at the top of our priority list. So, no release date can be disclosed yet.Anyway, I’ll move your topic to our Feature Requests forum and we will increase the priority for this task if other community members upvote this request. In the meantime, I can only suggest to use Author Avatars widget as it serves the your purpose, even if it sadly doesn’t offer many styling options.

Hi,
We have released an update of Grimlock for Author Avatars List/Block recently that includes this feature. You can since then filter authors with a specific ID. Updating this plugin to the latest version should bring this feature to your site.
