Hi Rodolphe,
Thank you for your feedback concerning this custom feature for BuddyPress plugin. Unfortunately, it is not part of our responsibility as we’re not the authors of BuddyPress plugins. We’re theme authors and make our best effort to make our theme support a wide variety of plugins to help you quickly build your website.
I understand your frustration if the custom feature is dated and doesn’t work anymore. However, it is part of the BuddyPress core development team’s work to find a solution, not ours.
To know precisely which custom code you could add to your BuddyPress website to hide the admin, it’s best if you ask directly to the plugin authors. They will be more informed and better suited to help you: BuddyPress Support.
In case you were not able to achieve what you’ve described with the help of BuddyPress team, we think that the missing feature requires custom development work. We got an amazing discount for our users with our partner Zipline, which can handle installation, customization, and mobile apps with your theme :

Thank you for your understanding.
Concerning your second issue, I believe that is the normal behavior for the BuddyPress member count, because BuddyPress will only count members that are considered as “active”. A member is considered active only if they logged in at least once. On the other hand, WordPress will count all your users regardless, which is why you see more users in the map page compared to the frontend directory.
I hope this information helps you get a better understanding of the way BuddyPress works.
Best regards,
