Hi
At the moment every action a person makes is posted on the Social Wall.
When a lot of people will be using the website, this will create an overload of information.
I want to adjust this so that basically nothing will be posted on the Social Wall.
I want it to be a standalone feature in which people can post general stuff.
How do I adjust this?Thx

Hi René,
Unfortunately, we have no clue. 🤷🏻♀️
As this issue is related with BuddyPress, it’s best if you try to reach the plugin authors. They will be more informed and better suited to help you.
Maybe this article form their documentation will help you learn more about the activity stream: Activity Streams. To go further, we invite you to post your request on their support forums: buddypress.org/support
We remain available for all support requests related with the use of your theme.

Could you explain what the site activity tracking does in the Buddypress settings? See attached.
I was hoping if I didn’t use this, then it would work. But it doesn’t seem to do anything.June 1, 2021 at 10:13 #32059@themodactyl- 0 Topics

Hi René,
The Activity Stream feature manage the activity page, the activity shown in groups and in the profile. If you deactivate it, you’ll no longer have the activity displayed on your website.
Concerning the Site Tracking feature, please click on this link from BuddyPress support to know more: What does Site Tracking do?.
Concerning what you’re trying to achieve, to our knowledge, there is no plugin that you could install to custom this feature to your website. We think that this feature requires custom development work. In consequence, our recommendation is to hire a freelancer to do this job for you. If you’re on a tight budget, we recommend you to require the services from Envato Studio freelancers (https://studio.envato.com/explore/websites-programming). This web platform gives you access to developers who have already experience with theme customizations, and for very competitive prices.
However, we suggest you to post your request on their support forums as they might be able to redirect you to a solution we didn’t know of: buddypress.org/support.
Hope this will help you better understand these BuddyPress features. 🙂

It looks like there is a plugin that is able to filter what is shown on the Activity Stream: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-activity-filter/
You think this is compatible with the Gwangi theme?I’m gonna try it out, and let you know.

Ok, I have now filtered out a couple of things. But the filtering out of the status update doesn’t seem to be working. To be clear, a status update is when someone posts something on their profile or in a group, right?

Hi René,
I’m glad to read you found a plugin that might be able to help you get what you’re trying to achieve. This plugin seems to only filter the activity stream, you should’nt face any style issue by using this plugin. However, as this plugin has not been integrated in our theme, it might need some custom CSS to make it fit perfectly.
We thank you for sharing this solution with us. I’m sure it will help other users facing the same issue. By doing this, you’re making a great contribution to this forum, and we thank you very much for that! #SharingIsCaring 💪🏻
Concerning the functionalities, I thing you’re right. However, we invite you to post your request on the BuddyPress support forums as they might be able to help you with that: buddypress.org/support. Please note that we try our best to answer to our theme users. However, you might have some specifics BuddyPress question and, as you certainly know, we don’t know this plugin as well as their authors.
Be sure we remain available for all support requests related with the use of your theme.

Kay, so I found out that it does filter out new status updates. Not the old ones. But the problem is, it doesn’t make a distinction between the social wall and groups. Just for the information for other people on this site.
