    Hi. I just finished installing Gwangi (website address is loveconnection.com.ng) and I noticed that the menu items are appearing more than once. I was able to manage to remove one of them (the extra ‘Home’ item that appeared on the menu) via the ‘Customize’ section, however I kept getting an error each time I tried removing the rest of them. This problems also applies to the widgets as well. You can find screenshots of these instances attached to this post. From the first screenshot, you will notice that the ‘community’ item on the menu list appears twice, same with the ‘blog’ and ‘pages’ items as well. And on the second attached screenshot, you will notice that in the profile dropdown menu, ‘create a group’ appears twice, ditto ‘friends’, ‘groups’, ‘activities’ and the rest of the items on the dropdown list. The footer widget items in the third screenshot also show the same pattern, including the facebook, instagram, twitter, and youtube icons (they all appear twice). I need to know why this is happening and what I can do to rectify it. Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi @kobolafem,

    We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

    If the menu items are showing twice, our best guess is that something went wrong during the import and you must have either reloaded your page or imported the XML content file twice. This can happen when a blank screen is shown during the import.

    The easiest solution is to simply remove the duplicated menu items one by one. You can try to remove them from your dashboard. To do so, please to “Appearance > Menus”. Then, select the menu to edit and remove unwanted items.

    If you’re still experiencing issues when removing menu items, please activate error logging on your website. Just turn WP_DEBUG to true, by pasting the following code lines in your wp-config.php file, just before the line that says ‘That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging.’:

    // Enable WP_DEBUG mode
    define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );

    // Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file
    define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );

    // Disable display of errors and warnings
    define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false );
    @ini_set( 'display_errors', 0 );

    More on this in the following topic: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the helpful response. But I have an even bigger issue. I have attached a screenshot of the area of concern (it has a pinkish rectangle around it. There’s a section of the frontpage of the demo content that I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to edit. I just need to edit out some text from the widget in the section but I can’t seem to figure it out. Please kindly assist me concerning this. Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi @kobolafem,

    The “Find People Near You” and “Let’s Make Dating More Human & More Simple” section of our demos are populated with WordPress navigation menus. For instance, you can edit “Feature – homepage” in the admin panels of your website.

    You can change the text displayed by editing the description from each menu item in the menu section of your admin panel. If the description text area isn’t visible, please review your screen options, at the top right of your screen. More on this in the following video tutorial:

    Finally, it’s not directly related with your initial question but you might be interested in changing the colors or the icons for this menu. Please read the following topic if you wish also to do so:

    Thanks a great deal dude. Problem solved. Awesome support. Now I have another situation. I’m currently running tests on the website by creating dummy profiles/registrations, and I noticed that the ‘Register’ link sometimes directs the intending registrar to my http://loveconnection.com.ng/register/ url, while at other times it directs them to the gwangi default register at https://basic.gwangi-theme.com/register/. It does this behaviour at random. What could be the cause of this? I need to know how to disable it from directing users to the gwangi theme registration site. Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi @kobolafem,

    You’re welcome! We’re here to help. ?

    Regarding the “Register” issue, it might be caused by the demo content. In this file that you’ve imported, the “Register” menu item link points to “https://basic.gwangi-theme.com/register/”. To change this, simply go back to your menu settings and edit the “User – Logged Out” menu. You can change or remove the menu item to add yours.

    It should solve this issue too.

    Thanks for the tip boss. Solved. One more thing. I desire to add more fields to the search form on the frontpage (picture attached) but I don’t even know where to begin. E.g, I would like to include ‘city’, ‘religion’, and ‘relationship status’. How do I begin to edit the form in question? I’m new to the whole WordPress programming thing which was why I opted to buy your theme rather than hiring a programmer or buying a php script, so please bear with me in case my questions much. I would like to have a separate page (like the register/login page) where users can perform complex searches of potential matches, but I don’t even know how to go about achieving this. Thanks in anticipation.

    I also found out that each time I try to perform a search via the form attached below (on the homepage), the search doesn’t happen (rather, the homepage refreshes itself). But I noticed that with the demo content (the one at your https://basic.gwangi-theme.com/ site), it performs a search and takes the user to the members page. What could be the problem at my end?

    Hi @kobolafem,

    Don’t worry, we have no issue with Gwangi users asking many questions about our theme. We’re here to answer them or point you to the right people to even better help you! ?

    However, we do prefer when Gwangi users create separated topics to different matters as it very difficult for us to provide the best support possible and to keep track of issues and their resolution if you multiple questions in the same topic. Moreover, it’s easier for us to share the resolution for a single issue with other members of our community facing the same problem.

    So, we will answer these last questions in this topic and will ask to create new topics for your next questions, if that’s OK for you.
    By doing this, you will be making a great contribution to this forum, and we thank you very much for that! ?

    1) There is probably something wrong with your BuddyPress page settings or with your BP Profile Search form settings. So, it’s best to check if either of those are properly set.

    First, you need to make sure that your “Members” page as been created and set. Then, also check that the required profile fields used to browser the member directory do exist. The “City”, “Country” and “Age” field displayed on our demo are only available if you use our generated fields.

    As described in our setup guide (https://doc.themosaurus.com/finishing-buddypress-setup/), you can generate the default fields by a single click. Only these are the ones that are displayed on member lists and member profile.

    If these are not showing on your member directory, the values might be simply have been left empty. However, if these fields are not showing in the admin, it seems that you might have skipped some steps from the setup guide. It’s best to complete every step before going to next otherwise some imports will be broken, like your homepage and directory search forms, for instance.

    To solve this, you need to go first to your BuddyPress settings and finish its setup:

    Finishing BuddyPress Setup

    This step will help you to generate all the missing profile fields.

    Your next step will be re-save your homepage and directory search forms.
    We use BP Profile Search (https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-profile-search/) to showcase the profile search feature on our demos.
    You can edit the homepage search form by visiting “Users > Profile Search” in your dashboard, where you will find every existing profile search forms.
    Just edit your forms and click “Save” without changing anything.

    Finally, you can test by adding some values to these fields for your test members.

    It should solve your issue.

    To learn more about BP Profile Search forms, please read also the following posts:

    Add new fields to homepage search form

    My profile search form seems to be broken

    2) Resolving the previous issue should also solve the last one. ??
