I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out regarding an issue with permalinks on my website hosted with HostGator. The problem specifically pertains to the Notifications and Messages sections.
Currently, when attempting to access the Notifications and Messages pages, I am encountering a 404 error. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the incorrect permalink structure is being generated. Instead of the expected URLs:
Messages:
Expected: https://website/members/kokiri/messages/
Actual: https://website/members/kokiri/BP_MESSAGES_SLUG/Notifications:
Expected: https://website/members/kokiri/notifications/
Actual: https://website/members/kokiri/BP_NOTIFICATIONS_SLUG/Friends:
Expected: https://website/members/kokiri/friends/
Actual: https://zenkai.online/members/kokiri/BP_FRIENDS_SLUGGroups:
Expected: https://website/members/kokiri/friends
Actual: https://zenkai.online/members/kokiri/BP_GROUPS_SLUGI believe there may be an issue with the permalink settings or a potential conflict that is causing this discrepancy. Could you please assist me in resolving this matter? I would appreciate it if you could guide me on how to correct the permalink structure or investigate any server-side issues causing this problem.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to your assistance in resolving this issue.

Hi Kokiri,
Thank you for reaching out!
You don’t have to reset the theme. I’m sure that it is not the theme that is related to this issue. My best guess is that your issue might probably be caused by some conflicting third party plugin or some extra code snippet.
The best thing to do is to deactivate all plugins that have not been installed with your theme during its setup and all existing custom PHP code snippets. Could you start by deactivating plugins one by one and check if this issue still occurs? The last plugin that you should not deactivate are:
- BuddyPress
- Grimlock
- Grimlock for BuddyPress
- Kirki
Please also make sure that you have the latest theme version and that all recommended plugins are up-to-date. Finally, you could also consider clearing all activated caching system as well as your browser cache before investigating any further. If you want to read more on what browser cache is and how to clear it, here is an article that might help you: How to Clear Internet Cache in Every Major Browser.
Thank you.

Hi Kokiri,
Thank you for these clarifications. I suggest you to use PHP 7.4 for the moment. There are indeed some plugins that are not yet compatible with the last version of PHP 8.
Don’t hesitate to let us know once you find out which plugin is responsible (If the issue is solved when deactivating a plugin, you’ll know it is this one), or if you deactivated all plugin except the one I mentioned and the issue still occurs.

Hello Manathan,
I am having the same issue with permalinks as Kokiri. I also checked the live demo of the Cera theme, and that one as well is defaulting to 404 pages when trying to access the Friends, Groups, Notifications, and messages from the logged in menu.
Example from your live demo site:

Hi Kokiri and Steph,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I was able to access to Groups and Friends in a member page. However, I indeed wasn’t able to access to notifications. My first guess is that BuddyPress did some major changes in the last update. Please allow me some time to investigate.

Hi Kokiri,
Wish you a happy new year! 🥳
We have released a new update of Grimlock for BuddyPress. Updating this plugin to the latest version should fix this issue. 🙂
After the update, the problem should now be fixed. However, you might still be seeing the issue because your browser cache is showing you an older version of the page (browsers do that to load pages faster). To see that the issue is resolved you will need to empty your browser cache and reload the page. If you want to read more on what browser cache is and how to clear it, here is an article that might help you: How to Clear Internet Cache in Every Major Browser.
Kindest regards,
