What exactly does the grimlock hero plugin do?
Does it act only in the header with the member search function on the home page?
Indeed, I do not need the search fields at the homepage, I wonder if I deactivate the grimlock hero plugin does it affect elsewhere?

Grimlock Hero is an add-on plugin for Grimlock. It helps you manage the theme options (text, layout and styling) for the custom header displayed on your homepage.
Yes, you can safely disable the Hero is you don’t need it but you might miss some interesting design options.
If you only wish to remove the search form, you can easily change this in your Customizer. Just go to your dashboard and navigate to “Appearance > Customize > Hero”. Then, edit the options as needed.
This should solve your issue.
