I want to have 2 type of member accounts. The registration only provides 1 it appears.
I am not receiving new user registration email either.

Are you referring to the member type managed by BuddyPress? Can you confirm me you created the two desired member types on Dashboard > Users > Member Types ?
Thank you for bringing this second issue to our attention. This issue can occur when your activation or registration email is either not send by your server -for instance, when mailing services are incorrectly set- or not received by your registering user because of his mail client spam filter.
