How would I restrict membership to only people that get an email invitation? I thought perhaps adding a code field that has to match in order to allow registration to proceed. Code would be sent in email. I don’t want random people registering as members.

Please note that this issue is related with the use of Paid Memberships Pro, not with the use of your theme. Plenty of PMPro add-ons are available on the author website to go further if necessary.
