    Hi Dicomp,

    Thank you for your feedback.

First of all, we would like to remind you that a theme affects the presentation and visual style of your site, while plugins add all kinds of features and functionalities.

In most cases, performances issues are related to third party plugins, not our theme. To make sure that our theme doesn’t have anything to do with that, I suggest you to install a website with our theme without any extra plugins to check the performances.

Regarding performances, here is some extra tips that could help go through this issue:

    • Check the WordPress prerequisites here: WordPress requirements
If your website doesn’t have the prerequisites, it won’t work correctly and might slow down your website.
    • Use a good host. We use WP Engine to host all our demos.
A faster server with proper settings will make your website load quicker. Some hosts also offer preset caching systems that will also improve loading times.

The performances of your website can also be improved, like our demos, by some additional plugins:

    • WP Rocket: Improving the speed of your WordPress site with caching options.
    • Imagify: Shrinking your images with lowest quality loss.
If your images are too big, I’m sure you can understand that your pages will load more slowly.
    • Imsanity: Automatically resizing huge image uploads

Of course, these are basics advises and you can always add more stuff to improve your page loading time but this is a pretty good start. In conclusion, all these steps are required to make sure to optimise the performances of your website.

The more important advise we can give you: limit the number of plugins! As you know, too many plugins will considerably slow down your page loading time. So, we advise to stick to the bare minimum! Let’s imagine that a user uses 50 plugins on his website. In this case, there is little chance that his site will work quickly, regardless of the theme used. Did you know that only two plugins (Grimlock and Kirki) are actually required to make our theme perfectly work? You can rest assured that our theme will work fine and perform better without few plugins installed.

We continually improve the performances of our themes. Please be aware that to reduce repetition in CSS, and improve powerful runtime effects like theme switching, we use variables to customize our theme.

Moreover, we developed some additional plugins (Grimlock for BuddyPress, Grimlock for the Events Calendar, etc). We didn’t choose to make all the style in the theme to keep it light. Each plugin needs his Grimlock plugin to be compatible with the theme. For exemple: if you don’t want to use BuddyPress, you don’t need the style of BuddyPress. Some theme authors include this style directly in the theme, we don’t. This would have slowed down your website, this is why we choose to work differently and include this style in a plugin. To apply the theme styles to BuddyPress, you need to install Grimlock for BuddyPress.

Please also be aware that it’s more complicated than that, but I tried to explain you as clear as possible how to getting started with improving your website performances.

I really hope this will help you better understand how our theme works. Let me know if you need more explanations. 🙂

    Kind regards,

    Hi Dicomp,

Great, can you run a performance test? Don’t hesitate to share it with us.

I suggest you to run the same test but with another standard theme like twenty-twenty three in order to compare the results.

    We’re waiting for your feedback.

WP Rocket: Is it a plugin? https://ru.wordpress.org/plugins/enhance-wp-rocket-loadcss
Imagify: Is it a plugin? https://imagify.io/
Imsanity: Is it a plugin? https://ru.wordpress.org/plugins/imsanity/
Need to install and configure all three of these plugins?
I also already installed and configured the plugin W3 Total Cache , but the speed of the site has not changed.

    Hi Dicomp,

You can use this tools to run a performance test to know where these low performances are coming from: https://pagespeed.web.dev/
It should be fast as the theme itself is quite light. Something is going wrong and this performances test will help find out what. I’m starting to think this might be related to your server performances.

Concerning the mentioned plugins, yes, you have to install them on your website.

Note that W3 Total Cache has a similar purpose of WP Rocket. For that reason, you should not install WP Rocket as you already have a cache plugin.

I also already communicate with server support and they say that the code needs to be optimized. For example, this page takes a long time to open.
    https://new.psytrance.pro/news/
To speed up this page, it needs code optimization.

    Hi dicomp,

    Thank for sharing this scan.

Please know that the blog page cannot be optimized from our side. This page is quite heavy as it’s charging all blog’s posts to display their image, excerpt, tags, category and date. Charging all this information take some time and require good performances.

I invite you to install temporarily Twenty-Twenty Three and run the same scan. You’ll see the theme has not a big influence for this page.

The best advise I can give you to optimise this page is to use a cache plugin like WP Rocket plugin.

    Hope this will help you.

    Cheers,

    Hello.
But I already have the W3 Total Cache plugin installed and you say has a similar purpose of WP Rocket. For that reason, you should not install WP Rocket as you already have a cache plugin.
Or are you still advising me to install WP Rocket instead of W3 Total Cache ?
Also, do you advise me to install these plugins?

We do not know W3 total cache plugin, but indeed, this plugin have a similar purpose of WP Rocket. What I mean is that the only way to make this page loads faster is to use a cache plugin. You can also increase your server performances, but I guess you already done that as you tolds me you reached your host provider.

Note that Imsanity plgin will automatically resize large images to avoid using images larger than 2,000 px. An image larger than this won’t make for better visibility – you won’t see any difference. However, it will take longer to load.

Imagify plugin will automatically make your images lighter when uploading them in you media gallery. This way, the images loads quickly.

You can also do these steps manually by resizing your image to maximum 2 000px and compress them using, for exemple, tinypng.com.

    Hope this will help you.

Do you still recommend disabling the W3 total cache plugin and installing WP Rocket?

No, all should work fine with W3 Total Cache plugin. I can’t certify you there will be a difference as I don’t know this plugin.

    Hope this will help.
