Hi,
I’ve installed the theme with the necessary plugins and the whole site is unusable. It grings to a halt and can take 30 seconds to load a page. There are so many plugins required to use this theme and at least one of them is hogging CPU on my hosting. It’s impossible to find out which plugin is causing the issue as there is so many and all seem necessary.
Also, Grimlock for Knowledge Base for Documents and FAQs doesn’t install.
At this point the theme is completely useless to me and is causing too much work before even using it as a social network.

Hi @rossh,
Thank you for your precious feedback. There is definitely an issue in our theme with the download link of this plugin (Grimlock for Knowledge Base for Documents and FAQs) which will be fixed in the next update.
In the meantime, you can download this plugin here (http://files.themosaurus.com/grimlock-echo-knowledge-base/grimlock-echo-knowledge-base.zip) and install it manually (only if you need it).
For the number of plugin, not every use-case is the same and we believe that our customers should be left with the decision of what to and not to install. Our theme works fine without any plugin installed.
Cera offers a built-in setup wizard if you wish to import one of our demos but you can skip it and start your website without installing any plugin or importing any demo content and very few plugins are actually required to make our theme perfectly work.
We are the plugin authors behind Grimlock, which adds standard Customizer controls and all theme options to dynamically update the theme styles according to your liking. And Grimlock only requires Kirki to work. To sum it up, you might start a project from scratch just with those two.
Additionally, Grimlock will suggest very lightweight compatibility add-ons if you add extra plugins. For instance, when activating BuddyPress, you will be invited to install Grimlock for BuddyPress to improve its integration with Grimlock and Cera, or provide extra theme options.
Those suggestions will be limited to the plugin installed. Furthermore, not every plugin requires a compatibility add-on, only major feature providers ( BuddyPress, bbPress, The Events Calander, etc.) do.
On the other hand, some buyers are looking for a ready-to-use demo to start their website, and Cera needs more plugins installed if you wish to get the exact same and fully functional demo like the one that we advertise. Our setup wizard will dynamically activate the recommended plugins based on the selected demo as not every one requires the same plugins.
We hope that this reply answers your concern regarding the number of plugins activated after the setup.

To help us getting clues and find a solution to yout issue, please activate logging on your website, just turn WP_DEBUG to true, by pasting the following code lines in your wp-config.php file, just before the line that says ‘That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging.’:
// Enable WP_DEBUG mode define( 'WP_DEBUG', true ); // Enable Debug logging to the /wp-content/debug.log file define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true ); // Disable display of errors and warnings define( 'WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false ); @ini_set( 'display_errors', 0 );
More on this in the following topic: https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress
Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for the speedy reply. As you’ve said, I was hoping for a complete version of the site as shown in your demo. I require most of the functionality for my project. Unfortunately I have other sites on my server that were affected by the installation of the theme and as such I’ve had to remove it completely so can’t follow the debugging steps you’ve listed. I’ve spent the last 24 hours sequentially activating plugins to pinpoint what is the issue and believe it may be rtMedia or Social Articles. I know that 3rd party plugins aren’t the responsibility of Themosaurus and your theme and Grimlock plugins most probably aren’t causing the CPU issue, however without all of the plugins in your demo the theme itself has no use to me.

Hi @rossh,
We’re really sorry for your trouble.
As this issue is related with the rtMedia and Social Articles, it’s best if you try to reach their authors. They will be more informed and better suited to help you and they might have some suggestions about performance improvements.
We use WP Engine to host all our demos (https://wpengine.com/). The performance of your website can also be improved, like our demos, by WP Rocket (https://wp-rocket.me/). Finally, we may also recommend Imagify (https://imagify.io/), to shrink your images with lowest quality loss.
For better performance (and better security) we obviously recommend the version 7.2 for PHP. Nevertheless, if this is not possible for you (server type, incompatibilities with plugins, etc.) we recommend at least version 5.6.X.
You can always add more stuff to improve your overall performances but this is a pretty good start.
We hope this will help.

Hi @rossh,
Thanks for the update! ?
When you ask “What should I do now?”, are you still referring to the number of plugins? If you wish to create the most barebone social website possible, I would suggest to momentarily deactivate all plugins except for the following:
– Kirki
– Grimlock
– BuddyPress
– Grimlock for BuddyPressFrom there, I would reactivate only those providing missing features seen on our demos that remain critical for the project. In your case, maybe lots of plugins will become optional and will be removed.
Cheers,
