Hello, Im trying to translate using poedit but when I upload the po and mo files nothing happens. Already uploaded them to the file folder, already translated the .pot on the buddypress plugin, also disabled the child theme but nothing happens, any help?

    Hi Max,

Where exactly did you put your files? Did you upload your .po and .mo files into the following directory?
    wp-content/themes/gwangi/languages/

Also, did you use the gwangi.pot and renamed it using the name of your locale? For instance:
    fr_FR.po
    fr_FR.mo
    en_US.po
    en_US.mo

Are all the strings from the theme not translated or only those of BuddyPress?

    Thanks your for your reply.

    Cheers

Hello again, already figured out what happens. It looks like in the recent updates wordpress changed the default lang folders. I moved the files to wp-content/languages/themes/ and wp-content/languages/plugins/ and they are working now

    Hi Max,

Great news. You’ve found the solution by yourself. ?

Actually, BuddyPress is expecting translation files into:
    – wp-content/languages/plugins/buddypress-es_MX.mo
    – wp-content/languages/plugins/buddypress-es_MX.po
You’re expected to translate BuddyPress strings using buddypress.pot.

Our theme will search for translation files into:
    – wp-content/themes/gwangi/languages/es_MX.mo
    – wp-content/themes/gwangi/languages/es_MX.mo
You’re expected to translate the theme strings using gwangi.pot.

As you’re following this guideline, everything should work properly.

    Best,
